boxcar social riverside:
Boxcar Social has fast become a mainstay and cultural hub within the Toronto coffee and spirit scene, establishing themselves as arbiters of taste concerning matters of quality roast. Having collaborated with one of the four founding members on a variety of projects, naturally I said yes when approached to take part in one more. The installation at the site of their second location entitled "The Parliament" employs allegory as a narrative to tell the story of each founding member and their personality traits. Owls were fitting because while they are often seen as solitary and contemplative creatures, when found in one another's company they are perceived as observational commentators partaking in wizened conversation. Nested in a thematic ground of earth and sky, The Parliament provides a cool palette and organic juxt to the warm, angular and rustically modern design of the space.
